About

Your Music
Instructor

As a kid, when I saw Marty McFly playing "Johnny B. Goode" in Back to the Future, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life.

But when I picked up the guitar, nothing happened. (Or at least nothing that sounded good happened.)

I took some guitars lessons but it didn't seem to stick.  I loved playing but I didn't understand how some people could just pick up the guitar and play seemingly anything with ease, while I had to be told exactly where to put my fingers. And even then, it was painful and hard to remember from day to day

With time I forgot about playing guitar, but I never forgot about music. I was obsessed with listening to music. Exploring artists from Hank Williams to Radiohead, from bossa nova to Black Sabbath.

Fast forward 10 years and as sophomore biology major I stumble into a music theory class and my life changes forever.

I finally understood the architecture of music.

And after almost 3 decades of applying music theory to the guitar, through rock, blues, folk and bluegrass, I now understand exactly what one needs to play music with the guitar.

But more importantly, I know how to communicate that in a simple, enjoyable way and I absolutely love doing so.

If you want to truly understand music and how to apply that to the guitar, please send me an email for a no strings attached assessment lesson.

I look forward to meeting you!
